William Allen was born about 1740 in Brunswick County, Virginia, a son of William Allen and Mary Hunt. He married Mary Bradford 08 DEC 1764 at Fauquier County, Virginia (1). His daughter Mary "Polly" Allen's first marriage was to Daniel Robinson of Greensville County, Virginia, a son of Patriot William Robinson. There is a DAR record of his service as a Lieutenant in the Brunswick County Militia 22 February 1779 (2). William Allen also had a Publik Service claim for providing a gun to the Revolution (3). Further, he paid the 1783 Greensville, Virginia, Personal Property Tax supporting the Revolution (4). He died during December 1815 at Greensville County, Virginia (5).
