The Howell Cemetery consists of an acre of land, which originally belonged to Isaac Howell. Isaac brought his family from North Carolina and obtained land through the 1827 and 1832 land lotteries. He owned and operated the Howell-Green ferry, one of the 200 ferries providing access to Atlanta across the Chattahoochee River. The Howell family was one of the pioneering families who helped settle the land west of the Chattahoochee River in Campbell (now Cobb) County.
